Dr. Richard Wolstenholme
Part-time Veterinarian

Dr. Wolstenholme began his career by earning a BS in Education from West Chester University in 1967, followed by his graduation from The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1971. For eight years after veterinary school, he gained valuable experience under mentors at Conchester Animal Hospital in Boothwyn, PA, before venturing out on his own.

In 1978, Dr. Wolstenholme and his wife Judy established Phoenixville Animal Hospital in Judy’s hometown. Over the next thirty-four years, with the support of family, friends, and a dedicated team, they built a thriving practice. In 2012, they decided to sell the hospital, marking the end of an era for Dr. Wolstenholme.

Since 2016, he has continued to work part-time alongside Dr. Farmand, enjoying the camaraderie of a great team and serving clients, both old and new. Despite fifty-seven years in veterinary medicine, Dr. Wolstenholme’s passion for his work remains strong. He cherishes the town of Phoenixville, where his children, Jill and Todd, and their families reside, bringing immense joy to their grandchildren.

Ava started as a receptionist at Valley Forge Animal Medical Center in January 2023 and immediately felt it was a perfect fit. During her nearly two years at the shelter, Ava gained experience in assisting, behavior, and rehabilitation. Passionate about animals and their care, she found it an easy choice to transition to a more fulfilling career. Ava is grateful to expand her knowledge and experience as a vet assistant at Valley Forge Animal Medical Center, aiming to become a Veterinary Technician and continue developing her skillset in the veterinary field.
